Who do I see?

How do I make an appointment?
All surgeries are by appointment only. We will always try and give you an appointment with the doctor of your choice, but regret that this is not always possible as many of the doctors work part time.
To make an appointment telephone either 0117 9862139 or 9862406 and select option 1.
Automated booking – we now have an automated booking service which is available 24 hours a day for booking GP appointments and blood test appointments. Press option 0 when you ring the practice number and follow the prompts. Please make sure we have your current telephone numbers in order to use the system.
If you arrive without an appointment we cannot guarantee to offer one unless your problem is urgent and you may have to wait until the end of surgery to be seen.
Please let us know if your problem is urgent and you feel you need to be seen on the same day. Patients with non-urgent problems will be offered the earliest available appointment. We also offer telephone appointments with both the doctors and the nurses, as many problems can be dealt with efficiently on the phone.
Please notify us if you are unable to keep your appointment so that it can be allocated to another patient.
You may see any of the doctors but we suggest that you see the same doctor as much as possible, for an on going medical condition or problem, so that he or she can get to know you. However, for any urgent or new problems you may see any of the GP’s, if your usual GP is not available. Please make a separate appointment for each person who needs to see the doctor or nurse. If you know that your problem will take some time to sort out please ask the receptionist for a double appointment.
Saturday Appointments and Late night opening
On two Saturday mornings each month the surgery is open for booked appointments with a Doctor only. There are no visiting or practice nurse services available on Saturdays.
We also offer booked late night appointments on one evening each week, this day varies from week to week. There are no phone lines open during these times. Please access the practice during these times from the car park entrance as the gate to the pedestrian access will be closed.
Should you arrive late for an appointment it is at the doctor’s or nurse’s discretion whether or not to see you or whether to ask you to re-book. If you are stuck in traffic ,or running late for some reason it is helpful if you can phone ahead to inform us. On occasion the doctors may be running late. We do try to avoid this but it may happen because of emergencies or because the doctor felt that it was important to deal fully with a previous patient’s problem, and this took longer than ten minutes. If a doctor is running very late the receptionist will try to keep you informed.
Appointments are booked in 10 minute timeslots. If you are sure that this will be insufficient please ask to have a “double” appointment booked.
